Vietnamese Speech Translation

During the speeches, we both spoke a few words in Vietnamese. Here are the translations for those speeches.

Phillipa:

We welcome all, Grandparents, Parents, Aunties, Uncles & friends.

On behalf of Kim and myself, we sincerely greet you and express our appreciation for your presence here today. We certainly take great pride in you being here and we would like to thank you.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a few things to my parents (referring to Kim’s parents). Mum and Dad, Vietnamese people have a saying: “All of a father’s work is as grand as ‘Than Binh’ mountain. The love and loyalty of a mother is as vast as the ocean, ‘Thai Bien'”. (This is where the applause occurred)

For over 20 years, Mum and Dad, you have nurtured and cared for Kim. There have been sacrifices that you have had to make for him to get where we are today. I would like to thank you and I would like you to know that everything you have done for Kim, I will keep in the depths of my heart.

Kim:

I would like to particularly thank my two younger sisters. All of the sad and joyful moments we have had, as we lived together under the one roof, in the one family… these memories I will forever remember and cherish.

I would also like to express thanks to my Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles. From being a little boy who was beginning to learn how to walk, to the day I matured. In my life, all the ups and downs shared with all of you and the special affection you have for me, I will never forget.

I would also like to thank all of my cousins, including everyone who has traveled especially to be here on the happiest day of my life.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone for attending today and I hope you have an enjoyable night.
