We spent a beautiful weekend in Porto, Portugal and lapped up the sun and extended daylight! We used to always think the Pomms were crazy wearing t-shirts when it hit 12 degrees… until we did the exact same thing along the river bank in Porto!
Yeah, yeah, mock us all you like… it was hot ok! Probably not as hot as in Melbourne over the last month or so, but the middle of winter in London is damn chilly! (more…)
We had a great time in the gorgeous city of Frankfurt with our bestest buddy Guy to celebrate Australia Day! My favourite place in Europe (thus far) and not for any specific reason, but maybe because it felt so much like Melbourne… or just the great company
We went away this weekend to Oxford. Although we’re sure there is plenty to do there other than check out the many many colleges and uni’s, the highlight for us was the Boost Juice Bar we found in a shopping mall - all the way from Australia! Needless to say, we had a few during our stay
Well after a lot of research, paper work, stress and waiting, we finally have our passports back and Kim is now a resident! Glad that I put in the many hours of research, we now have the ability to travel Europe which is, of course, one of the reasons we are over here. It was so hard to hear all our friends off and travelling every other weekend or planning a trip at the last minute. Now we can finally join in!
Who goes to Scotland in Winter, you might ask? A couple of Aussies who have no passports and a week of holidays to use before December, that’s who! We made our way to Scotland by train for a week of climate conditioning, which ended up making London seem quite toasty
Who would have thought that we would be spending a weekend away in five star accommodation only minutes away from the Queen’s residence, Windsor Castle? Not us, that’s for sure!
Our first trip out of the UK since Ireland and boy were we excited! It was our last weekend without our passports for up to 6 months, so I was on a mission to find us some cheap train tickets anywhere outside the UK. And once I had them in my hot little hands, we were brimming with excitement! And not just ‘how cool’ excitement, ‘jump-up-n-down-n-squeal’ excitement! ‘Cause we were off to PARIS!
For our birthday weekend, we decided to do something different and challenging. We just didn’t think that would consist of an 18 mile walk. But walk we did in the Peaks district near Sheffield in England. We walked til we literally dropped, and then walked some more!
This posting is a little overdue and very long so be warned! On our trip to Ireland (the republic that is) we spent almost 3 weeks meeting family, seeing many of the tourist destinations and then some of the not-so-tourist destinations, which was even better! Although we covered a lot of ground, there are still heaps of places I’d like to go back and visit…
Everyone knows about my obsession with food. If there is something new to taste and eat - I am in. In my new quest to eat the local food of our holiday destination, my first stop is Ireland. I do like eating potatoes but the Irish take it to another level. A level I must say has made me a little sick of potatoes.
