Well, in summary, our trip to Italy was awesome. Awesome company, awesome place, awesome food (though we were over it not long into the trip), awesome sights and awesome history. We also tried the whole train travel thing, with only 1 flight to return back to London. So, where to begin…?

You’re thinking South, right? Well, wrong. To be honest, there is not much “South” about Southend-on-Sea at all! Instead, we headed west from London to Essex to meet up with some great mates for the day. Only to discover we could see where the Thames meets the sea 
And you guessed it, it’s on the North side of the Thames 
A lovely trip to Barcelona for our 1st wedding anniversary - and a bank holiday weekend utilised well
So the last 3 weekends, we’ve been making the most of living in Europe. Perhaps a little too much! First was Berlin for Easter, then Austria with the family for a long weekend and this last weekend we were off to Belgium for a normal-size weekend
At last we got to meet the Kuttner family in Austria! We spent a long weekend in this beautiful country and want to visit again next year - for longer next time! It was so wonderful to finally meet the family, they were so warm and welcoming and made us feel like a part of the family from the minute we arrived! Fritz said Kim and I had a problem with our diet though - we drink water and not beer
When asked about Berlin the first thing that comes to mind is a city known for the wall that divided a nation. With the wall behind them, Berlin has really become a modern city with some impressive architecture and very a important story to tell.
We spent a beautiful weekend in Porto, Portugal and lapped up the sun and extended daylight! We used to always think the Pomms were crazy wearing t-shirts when it hit 12 degrees… until we did the exact same thing along the river bank in Porto!
Yeah, yeah, mock us all you like… it was hot ok! Probably not as hot as in Melbourne over the last month or so, but the middle of winter in London is damn chilly! (more…)
We had a great time in the gorgeous city of Frankfurt with our bestest buddy Guy to celebrate Australia Day! My favourite place in Europe (thus far) and not for any specific reason, but maybe because it felt so much like Melbourne… or just the great company
We went away this weekend to Oxford. Although we’re sure there is plenty to do there other than check out the many many colleges and uni’s, the highlight for us was the Boost Juice Bar we found in a shopping mall - all the way from Australia! Needless to say, we had a few during our stay It felt like we were at home! *sigh* the things you miss while away from home…
Well after a lot of research, paper work, stress and waiting, we finally have our passports back and Kim is now a resident! Glad that I put in the many hours of research, we now have the ability to travel Europe which is, of course, one of the reasons we are over here. It was so hard to hear all our friends off and travelling every other weekend or planning a trip at the last minute. Now we can finally join in! (more…)
