Bumblebee 1Very cool. And I have grown quite an obsession with the furry fuzzy little things. The are just so cute that you wish they’d grow a little more (like they’re not big enough already) just so you can cuddle them and pat them :)

CarnivalWhat an amazing carnival! More like a festival really - because it doesn’t really compare with Warrnambool Carnie (that’s the biggest understatement of the century).

Think louder than loud music, awesome costumes and amazing dancers. Then imagine multiple huge speakers on semi-trailer trucks as the floats followed closely by the bright sea of people following behind dancing to the pumping music. Then you have all the people watching on the side of the street (and I mean ALL the people, they say 3 million people attend this carnival) who are all bopping away to the beat and taking photos.

NestingWell, we’ve been overseas for 2 months now (not that we can believe it) and we’re finally starting to settle in. I started work last week with Barclays Capital and we found a place to live! So it’s all happening now, but we’re going to need at least the next 22 months (yes Dad) to discover London alone! There’s just so much happening all the time!

footprintOne of the first things Kim and I noticed over in the UK is the huge campaigns on global warming and our carbon footprints. There is a HUGE awareness initiative going on over here. But it seems that they’re also behind Australia (and other countries like Ireland) in many ways - even though on average Australia’s average CO2 footprint is much higher.

Helping handHas it become too dangerous to help out someone in need? We have all been in that situation where we ummmm and ahhhhh about it as we look and watch a broken down car sitting on the side of the road. The days of leaving your doors unlocked are long gone, but yet, there are a few people still holding onto the “honest” society. With the recent shootings in Melbourne, it is hard to determine if his efforts helping that person in need were a heroic act or a sad tragedy… (more…)

DepressionOk, so this is a subject of a relatively serious nature, and I dont expect most to read it (and I’ve been umming and ahhing about putting it up on here), but I also believe it’s an important one. And if I can make just one other woman aware, it will be more than worth any criticism I get about putting it up here. It’s about birth control and depression - so if you’re not interested, dont click on :)

Hello all, just a quick note to let you know we’ve updated our photo gallery. More photo’s to follow (as we get them ourselves) and more posts about the wedding and honeymoon soon too!

Almost thereIt’s almost over!  The renovation is almost at the finish line!  Many thanks to Hamish (who spent half a week at our house) and Chris who helped Kim re-lay the whole backyard.  All weekend and every night this week has been spent on the project to get the backyard looking spick and span with the cobble stones.  It’s the last “big” task to be done to the house.  Now we can hand it over to renters to destroy…  Anyone need to rent a 2 bedroom unit?!

WorldToday I received an email from STA travel about “Carbon Offsets” where for just $8 (domestic) or $20 (international), you can “offset” your flight’s carbon emissions.  What a fantastic idea!  There are so many people who are cautious about carbon emissions, yet still want to travel the globe. Then we feel guilty about wanting to do both.

TKDBlackFour long years training and preparing for this day… And we did it!!! We worked our butts off and got our black belts for Taekwondo!

We were so nervous for the whole week leading up to the big day. We’ve been working hard every night, reciting the club oath, going over our Korean terminology, practicing patterns, breaking boards (thanks to Ivan for helping with these!), self defense and discussing tactics for our fighting.

But it all paid off in the end.
