Yorkshire DalesWe did it!  We climbed the 3 peaks of the Yorkshire Dales…  Given we didn’t do it anywhere near the record time of 2 hours 50-something minutes, but we still climbed all 3!

Just to keep in line with the apparent curse we’re currently under, our Friday night was a little… different.  The train we had to get couldn’t go all the way to our destination as there was too much water over the tracks.  Don’t we just wish we could have that problem back home!?  Anyway, after an hour of waiting for the verdict, a further 20 minutes back to where we came from and a 40 minute taxi ride to our final destination, we were less than pleased with the service at the pub we were staying at.  Ended up in our 15-bed bunkroom tip toeing around to ensure we didn’t wake any of the other 13 bodies that were trying to sleep.

Up early to meet the group and start the trek!  Weather was… well… English (hehe) to say the least!  We climbed the first peak (Ingleborough) but when we got to the top, it was like we were at base camp at Mount Everest!  The wind was blowing a gale and the rain was sharp!  As soon as we stopped walking, we started to freeze!

Onwards and… downwards, we made our way toward the next peak, Whernside.  Now this one was challenging.  The mental battle in my head was incredible enough let alone my poor thighs that were burning!  But we got to the top and then everything changed!  The weather started to clear and we got to see the view that made it all worthwhile :)   The trek back down was much better and it all looked up from there!

Next day we conquered the last of the 3 peaks, Pen-Y-Ghent.  A much easier challenge this one, with much nicer weather :)   Although the legs and feet were a bit of a mess by the end of this weekend, it was a great trip with great company!
