Windsor CastleWho would have thought that we would be spending a weekend away in five star accommodation only minutes away from the Queen’s residence, Windsor Castle? Not us, that’s for sure!

Kim’s work most generously funded a weekend away for “team building” which comprised of the employees attending a meeting and robo wars while the partners (aka wag’s) lived it up sipping champagne in the outdoor jacuzzi while talking girl talk. After which we had a lovely dinner followed by fireworks for bonfire night.

Waking up feeling none too great, we then ventured off to see Windsor Castle with Kim’s colleague and his girlfriend who we traveled to Marlow with. At first we though that spending £15 each to get in to see the grounds of Windsor Castle was a bit rich. We had a look around the amazing grounds and followed the guards as they were relieving other guards.

There was a 37.5 minute queue to wait to get inside to see Queen Mary’s dolls’ house and at first we thought that was too long to wait as we had to get back to London. But in the end we convinced each other we could entertain ourselves, so we waited. And were we glad we did! We saw some very early sketches of Da Vinci’s and photo’s of Royal weddings. And we were just about to skip the rest of what was inside to leave, until we realised we could walk through the entire west upper ward and see exactly where the Queen lived! It was amazing and so very grand. It was definitely worth the £15 and would recommend it to everyone!

Oh and on a last note, the gardens were superb! I can’t wait to hopefully take mum there if she visits!

    Hi guys
Sounds amazing. Wish I could have time to go there too. I went to Hampton Court Palace which is definitely worth seeing but make sure you have time. There is so much history to absorb and I was particularly impressed with being in King Henry V111’s rooms

    Hope you are both well

    love Karen
