NestingWell, we’ve been overseas for 2 months now (not that we can believe it) and we’re finally starting to settle in. I started work last week with Barclays Capital and we found a place to live! So it’s all happening now, but we’re going to need at least the next 22 months (yes Dad) to discover London alone! There’s just so much happening all the time!

We’ve done a few of the touristy things as well as some of the “Londoner” things.

We went to see an exhibition in London city – by Antony Gormley – which was nothing short of fantastic! It was just amazing! One exhibit was a glass room about 10×10m and it was full of, well, fog. The idea was that the artist wanted you to lose track of your “space” – your personal space, direction, everything. When you went in, you couldn’t see more than 1m in front of you and people would come in and out of your vision… It felt like what it might feel like to be in heaven! Quite amazing really. You couldn’t even see your feet unless you bobbed down to take a look. Another exhibit was literally all over the city – you would walk out onto 1 of 3 balconies from the gallery and look around the city scape. There were statues looking at you from kilometres away! I think there were 37 or something in total, but it felt so eerie to have 37 “things” looking at you from all over the place, very very very strange!

Shopping is something we’ve found ourselves doing QUITE frequently. The shops here are fantastic! There are shirt shops where you go in, try on shirts in different styles and shirts and THEN you pick out your colour/pattern etc. It’s fantastic and something that would definitely be great to have back home! There are so many areas for shopping, not like the shopping centres back home, but districts for shopping.

Our new place is in South London and we are soooo excited about moving in! We still have to wait another 2.5 weeks, but the place is awesome! We just can’t wait! But we do have to buy all the crockery, cutlery, linen and well, basically everything. So we’re not keen on that, but otherwise, it should be great!

All in all, Kim and I are thrilled with our decision to live in London. Although the police sirens are always going, the streets (in the city) are so packed it’s like the Olympics are on everyday and the tube is the hottest place on earth not unlike hell at all, we enjoy the fact that there is so much opportunity here and there are so many parks and friendly people in the supermarkets. And there is just sooo much to do. There’s always something on to suit everyone, there’s definitely no shortage of culture!

I have not gone to the supermarket without having a 5-10 minute conversation with some local about food. It must be the “Asian effect”. Being asian must mean I own an Asian takeaway so I must know something about food

    Hi guys,
It’s great to read that you are both settling in so well. Have I told you both how envious I am of your situation? I wish I was there too!! You must be missing your nephew heaps I know I would.
    Love V
