I loved the USA and would love to go back. Cheap and nasty food, the food was all wrong in so many ways, but so yummy! We had highlights every day, it was amazing! When you think the today was the best day another one just tops its the next day. Watching the New York Knicks play the Chicago Bulls at Maddison Square Gardens was definitely the highlight of the trip for me though. Something I’d only ever dreamed of being a keen follower of the NBA!

After travelling the US I have come up with some tips for future travellers.

  • Pack lightly on the way there – Shopping in the US was a dream with such cheap well known brands up for sale.
  • Entree size is bigger than you think – Unless you are a big eater (I thought I was but now corrected) don’t order both entree and a main cause it is WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!! American size dishes are a lot larger than what we are use to in Australia.
  • All you can eat in Vegas – All the casino’s have all you can eat parlours. They are relatively cheap and you will definitely be full afterwards. Their food selections are large so you won’t have any troubles finding something you like.
  • Front of queue tickets is a must – At universal studios front of queue tickets are a must. This avoids the long lengthly queues wasting all your precious time going on rides. Note: Read all warning signs before getting on rides because you can be in for a big shock if you don’t. Just ask the kids who learnt many new swear words sitting on a ride with Phillipa :P
  • Pack good jackets, jumpers, beanies, gloves and scarves – US is very cold in winter especially NY (minus 30 wind chill) so packing a good clothing is a must. I know good gear is VERY EXPENSIVE but believe me when its that cold it is money well spent.
